Author’s Note: This short story was written for a quick writing exercise for my Reading, Writing and Criticism class. We were instructed to try different writing exercises and methods. For this one, the exercise was to continue from the previous exercise, A Miserable Shower, but to focus on a sense of place rather than narrative events, using two or three places from the previous exercise. Consequently, the events alluded to in this exercise directly lead into Raindrops, as I focused on Riven’s house after her argument with her mum about her hair, and her school when her bullies decide to harass her in the rain. Fun fact, nimbostratus clouds are a type of cloud that typically produces rain.
