Author’s Note: This short story was written for a quick writing exercise for my Writing Fiction class. It is based on a conversation I had with my sister and my attempts to focus that day instead of playing more Skyrim. It is somewhat exaggerated, but Skyrim was genuinely very enticing at the time, and because of how it’s designed, once you start playing it’s far too easy for “I’ll just do this one extra little thing and stop for now” to snowball into doing a dozen other tiny little things that add up and result in you losing track of time. I tidied it up a bit after I finished the writing assignment that this was an exercise for, Playing with Fire, but it is much less refined than my proper short stories.
