Author’s Note: After writing Raindrops, I still wanted to play around with pathomancy, the magic system it uses. Although I didn’t mention it in the commentary for Raindrops, I’d already had that magic system sitting in my back pocket for a little while before I’d gotten the chance to use it. When I got around to figuring out what I wanted to write for this assignment, I had the idea for a mercenary who uses a loophole in the magic system to abuse it, bottling up specific emotions (even though he knows that’s not good for you) and the associated magic to be able to release all of that magic all at once in combat to devastating effect.
